...... that many in the world are like King Herod.
In yesterday's post we saw that King Herod asked the Wise Men to tell him where the baby Jesus was so he could go and "worship" him. Let's review Matthew 2:7-8 and see the account.
"Then Herod, when he had secretly called the wise men, determined from them what time the star appeared. And he sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go and search carefully for the young Child, and when you have found Him, bring back word to me, that I may come and worship Him also.”
I believe King Herod is a type, a symbol of the heathen of today who outwardly seem excited about the baby Jesus and this time of year. They even claim they are worshipping Him when in reality they are not. In reality, they are seeking to kill Him. They want no part of the real Jesus; the Jesus who will one day be there judge.
These people masquerade as though they are celebrating "christmas" when in reality they are just caught up in all the glitter and commercialism of this time of year as they sacrifice everything to the god of materialism. They try to cover this up with plastic "worship" at this time of year. They'll even put a star on top of their tree but not really know why. They'll just do it because it's "tradition".
If you know of some "Herod's" in your life, take this time of the year to show them the real Jesus.
